EVENT DESCRIPTION
An exhibition to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the San Giovenale Triptych: “Masaccio and the Masters of the Renaissance in comparison”, created by the Masaccio Museum in collaboration with the Municipality of Reggello and the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage of Florence. The 6 centuries of the prestigious work will fall exactly on 23 April 2022.
The exhibition, which will be set up inside the Masaccio Museum of Sacred Art in Cascia di Reggello, where the work of the Valdarno painter is kept, will be inaugurated on the day shown on the painting, April 23 and will remain open until October 23. 2022.
The exhibition will host important works by painters who shared with Masaccio the longing for a renewed painting, both from the point of view of the contents and that of the iconographic models. Among these the Maestro di Barberino, Gherardo Starnina, Lorenzo Monaco, Mariotto di Nardo, Bicci di Lorenzo, Masolino da Panicale, Mariotto di Cristofano, Giovanni dal Ponte, Francesco d'Antonio and Andrea di Giusto. The famous Triptych of San Pietro Martire by Beato Angelico, an artist who was among the first and most gifted connoisseurs of the Masaccesque novelties, will also be on display.
