From October 31st to November 8th, 2026, Florence will host the 67th edition of the Festival dei Popoli, one of Europe’s leading festivals dedicated to documentary cinema. The event, taking place at several venues across the city, including Cinema La Compagnia, Cinema Astra and Palazzo Buontalenti, will feature a rich programme of screenings, premieres, talks and retrospectives with directors from all over the world.
The 2026 edition will explore major contemporary issues such as labour and workers’ rights, colonialism and historical memory, Europe, feminism and human rights.
Alongside the main programme, “Popoli for Kids and Teens” returns, a section designed for younger audiences. Through documentary cinema, it offers children and teenagers the opportunity to discover different realities, develop their curiosity, learn to critically interpret images and engage with the world around them.
The festival once again confirms its role as a unique window onto global realities, bringing together cinema, civic engagement and cultural participation.
