Dance in Florence: the unmissable events

The most important dance performances taking place in Florence.

Florence, the capital of art and culture, hosts dance shows and events that attract thousands of dance enthusiasts to the city. Every year, spectators are fascinated by the spectacular elegance of high-level dance in the Renaissance setting. Here's the calendar of the most important events:
The year begins with Danzainfiera, the largest international event dedicated to dance, every February in Florence.
Every year, over 14 pavilions and 20,000 dancers take to the stages at Fortezza da Basso. Professionals from all over the world gather in Florence to celebrate the world of dance with lessons, shows, competitions, stands, auditions and much more. Over fifteen editions of Dif have transformed the 65,000 square metres of the Fortress located just five minutes from the station into one of the most significant encounters for those who live to dance.

The Florence Dance Performing Art Festival, now in its 34rd edition, from 29th June to 19th July 2023, is a true institution in terms of Florentine and world dance. Marga Nativo, former prima ballerina of the Teatro Comunale di Firenze, and Keith Ferrone, are the founders of this event, featuring performances from the Florence Dance Center school. The festival involves world-famous artists and dance companies, offering a top-tier programme that takes place over the summer in one of the most important and charming places in Florence: the large cloister of Santa Maria Novella.

Another high-quality summer event is the MusArt Festival, featuring a programme of all-sorts of concerts, including the show by the Italian and world dance star, Roberto Bolle, who brings his Gala Roberto Bolle & Friends to a few privileged destinations, including Piazza Santissima Annunziata in Florence, on 15th of July this year.
