A "cookie" is a small text file created by websites on the user’s computer when they access a given website, with the aim of storing and conveying information. Cookies are sent by a web server (i.e. the computer on which the visited website is running) to the user’s browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.) and memorised on the latter’s computer; they are then sent back to the website on subsequent visits. Some operations cannot be accomplished without the use of cookies, which in some cases are therefore technically necessary. In other cases the website uses cookies to facilitate and simplify browsing by the user or to enable the latter to use specifically requested services. Cookies can remain within the system even for long periods and may contain a unique identification code. This enables websites that use them to keep track of the user’s browsing within the same site, for statistical or advertising purposes, i.e. to create a customised profile of the user based on the pages they have visited and to show and/or direct them to targeted advertising. (so-called Behavioural Advertising).
This website uses different types of third party technical and profiling cookies. The owner, following the indications provided by the relevant Authority in the general provision of May 8, 2014 lists the specific categories of cookies adopted, the aims and the consequences ensuing from their de-selection:
TYPE OF COOKIE | PURPOSE | STORAGE TIME | CONSEQUENCE OF DE-SELECTION |
---|---|---|---|

Functionality cookies | Facilitate browsing and the service provided for users based on a series of criteria chosen by the user | Valid for the browsing session | It would not be possible to save the choices made by users while browsing |
Cookie analytics | Collecting information in aggregate form on users' browsing to optimise their browsing experience and the services provided | Established by a third party | It would no longer be possible for the owner to acquire aggregate information |
Cookie profiling | Creating profiles relating to the user to send promotional messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing | 12 months | It would not be possible to carry out profiling with the aim of sending promotional messages. |
On this website, third party cookies are also in operation, namely cookies created by a different website from the one that the user is currently browsing. Based on the provisions of the Data Protection Authority of May 8, 2014, the owner is required to provide an updated link to policies and consent forms of the third parties with whom specific agreements have been stipulated for the installation of cookies via the owner's website.
