Open-air Cinema in Florence: from Piazzale degli Uffizi to Manifattura Tabacchi

The best places to enjoy new releases and auteur films on summer evenings.

What could be better on a warm summer evening than a fantastic movie under the stars, with palpable emotions and soundtracks floating on the breeze. Don't miss the Florentine open-air cinema screenings, with Oscar-quality arenas for best scenography.

Apriti Cinema - Piazzale degli Uffizi

One of Florence’s most iconic squares, Piazzale degli Uffizi, hosts the return of Apriti Cinema from June 27 to August 7, made up of forty-evenings of auteur films in original language curated by Fondazione Sistema Toscana. Admission is free, subject to availability.

The programming features films presented by major Florentine festivals such as Festival dei Popoli, Lo schermo dell’arte and Middle East Now, with dedicated mini-series. There will also be tributes to Marilyn Monroe and Monica Vitti, as well as documentaries focused on great artists like Tiziano and Canova.

Non solo cinema in Manifattura

From June 28 to September 8, a new summer arena pops up in one of the most urban and creative spaces in Florence, Manifattura Tabacchi. Non solo cinema in Manifattura (Cinema and not only in Manifattura) consists of seventy evenings of love, war, travel, adventure, comedies, thrillers and science fiction, with films, music, books, theatre and talks curated by MIM - Made in Manifattura and the Stensen Foundation.

Cinema in Villa

Cinema returns to the magnificent Belvedere Terrace at the Bardini Gardens from July 7 to August 28, with a selection of big hits of the film season and timeless classics.
‘Cinema in famiglia’ Thursdays have been confirmed, with free admission for children and their accompanying adult(s) upon reservation.

Estate Fiesolana

From August 5 to 21 at the spectacular Roman Theatre of Fiesole, Estate Fiesolana completes the round-up with its summer series: cinema sotto le stelle (under the stars) by the Stensen Foundation. Instead of chairs and armchairs, take a seat on the centuries-old stones of one of the oldest Roman theatres in existence!
