Pepito Day: On March 22, the Grand Football Celebration at the Franchi
Giuseppe Rossi will bid farewell to football alongside Batistuta, Luca Toni, Antonio Cassano, and many other legends.
The Pepito Day will be a special event dedicated to Giuseppe Rossi, the Italian football talent, who will say goodbye to professional football on March 22 with a match featuring numerous past champions in one of the stadiums that marked his career: the Franchi in Florence.
The day of sports and entertainment will begin at 4:00 pm with a youth tournament and will continue with the 6:00 pm match, which will see Giuseppe Rossi's former teammates on the pitch, united to celebrate his extraordinary career. Pepito's friendly match will in fact bring Gabriel Omar Batistuta, Luca Toni, Francesco Toldo, Sebastian Frey, Borja Valero, Joaquín, Gonzalo Rodríguez to the Franchi. Among the stars present at the Franchi there will also be Nemanja Vidic, Manchester United totem with whom "Pepito" took his first steps as a professional. The surprises are not over. On March 22, other undisputed protagonists will participate in the great celebration, starting with Claudio Ranieri, Rossi's first Italian coach at the time of Parma, accompanied by Luca Cigarini and Daniele Dessena, who shared the yellow and blue dressing room with Giuseppe Rossi.
Along with them there will be two of the symbols of the Italy world champion in 2006 and teammates of "Pepito", such as Fabio Grosso and Daniele De Rossi. The blue parterre will be completed by Salvatore Sirigu. Those nostalgic for the color purple, however, will be delighted by the presence of some great protagonists of the past of Fiorentina, such as Mati Fernandez, Emiliano Viviano and Mario Gomez. Not only that, because Martin Jorgensen, David Pizarro, Alberto Aquilani, Juan Manuel Vargas and Christian Riganò will also be present, symbols that have left an indelible mark on the recent history of the lilies. Finally, Marcos Senna and Joan Capdevila, teammates of Giuseppe Rossi in the Villarreal days, will also play in the friendly scheduled for 18:00.
With a special focus on younger generations and Florentine traditions, the event will also feature performances by Street Clerks, the famous Florentine rock band, as well as the Historic Parade of the Florentine Republic and an exhibition of Calcio Storico Fiorentino.
