Florence by Tram!
5 Places to discover along Tram Line T2

The top sights along the T2 line from Peretola Airport to Piazza San Marco.

A practical (and alternative) guide to experiencing the city… one stop at a time.

After exploring the T1 route, it’s time to focus on Line T2 of Florence’s tram system, which connects Peretola Airport to the city center (Piazza San Marco) in just 30 minutes. It’s a convenient, eco-friendly, and affordable way to explore lesser-known parts of Florence, rich in local life, street food, contemporary art, and vibrant neighborhoods.

Here are the main stops along the T2 line and what to visit near each one:

1. Peretola Airport – Stop: "Peretola Aeroporto"
Arriving in Florence by plane? Hop on the tram right outside the terminal!
Just remember: if you're using a paper ticket, make sure to validate it using the onboard machine.

2. Novoli – Stops: “Novoli – Regione Toscana” and “Università”
Welcome to Novoli, a modern and rapidly growing district. Here you'll find the new Courthouse, the San Donato Park (perfect for a relaxing break), and the University of Florence’s Social Sciences campus. The area is full of students, street food spots, pizzerias, and cafés — ideal if you're looking for an authentic, local vibe.

Must-try: Tripperia Vegano TAN8 — a flying vegan food truck located on the second floor of a parking structure in Viale Guidoni! A one-of-a-kind experience to taste Florence’s iconic lampredotto in its most vegan version.

3. Piazza Puccini – Stop: “Puccini”
Get off here for a stroll in one of the city’s most dynamic neighborhoods. Just minutes away on foot you’ll find the Puccini Theatre, a lively venue with plays and concerts, and the Manifattura Tabacchi, a former tobacco factory turned creative hub with stylish cafés, design shops, concept boutiques, and a northern-European vibe.
