Florence – a golf destination

The Florentine territory is the perfect place for golf enthusiasts.

It’s hard to speak of Florence without thinking of its historic center: piazza del Duomo, piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio ... but the city’s surrounding hills boast incredible scenery; they’re the perfect destination for nature and wellness lovers.

Besides the charming villages, museums and many attractions dotting the Florentine countryside, you’ll also find beautiful golf courses that offer unique options for both long-time golfers and first-timers ready to give the sport a try: private and group lessons await you to dive headfirst into the world of golf!

Here are the golf courses you’ll find in Florence and its surrounding areas:

Ugolino

Built in 1933 by two architects from across the Channel (Englishman Cecil Blandford and Irishman Peter Gannon), this historic golf course is recognized as one of the 50 most beautiful golf courses in the world.
The 18-hole course is found south of Florence in the picturesque setting of the Impruneta hills. The uneven ground makes for a delightful and interesting game for golfers. The club is also home to an excellent restaurant.

Poggio dei Medici

This unique and fascinating golf course borders the green hills of the Mugello area, a truly beautiful and enchanting setting.
Inaugurated in 1992, the course has consistently made the “Best Golf Courses in Italy” ranking in Il Mondo del Golf.
The complex also features a Tuscan-style hotel, a restaurant, swimming pool, fitness and wellness area and rooms with direct access to the golf course.

Castelfalfi

With its 27 holes, Golf Club Castelfalfi is the largest golf course in the Florence area.
The course is located in a beautiful estate that combines the beauty of the landscape with the modernity of its facilities.
Here, you’ll also find apartment or farmhouse rentals, giving visitors the chance to relax during their sport and nature-filled vacation. The complex offers an 18-hole and a 9-hole course, both perfect for golfers of every level.

Pavoniere

The Pavoniere Golf and Country Club, located in the Prato area, was designed as a flat golf course. The course merges perfectly with its surrounding green landscape, which is located next to the remarkable park of the Villa Medicea di Poggio a Caiano.
The club offers an 18-hole course, an excellent restaurant with golf-course views, a swimming pool and a gym, not to mention golf options for both children and teenagers.
