What could be better on a warm summer evening than a fantastic movie under the stars, with palpable emotions and soundtracks floating on the breeze. Don't miss the Florentine open-air cinema screenings, with Oscar-quality arenas for best scenography.

1. Apriti Cinema – Piazza de' Pitti

From June 16 to July 13, 2025, in one of Florence’s most iconic and spacious squares, right in front of Palazzo Pitti, Apriti Cinema returns — a series of forty evenings featuring auteur films in their original language with free entry until seats run out.

The lineup includes films presented by Florence’s major festivals, such as Festival dei Popoli, Florence Queer Festival, and Middle East Now, which will offer true mini-festivals within the program.

1. Cinema Under the Stars – Estate Fiesolana

From August 7 to 23, in the stunning Roman Theatre of Fiesole, the Estate Fiesolana festival closes its season with an open-air cinema event curated by the Stensen Foundation. Instead of chairs, you’ll sit on the ancient stones of one of the oldest Roman theaters still standing!

3. Non solo cinema in Manifattura 

From 27 June to 27 August 2025. This summer arena pops up in one of the most urban and creative spaces in Florence, Manifattura Tabacchi. Non solo cinema in Manifattura (Cinema and not only in Manifattura) consists of seventy evenings of love, war, travel, adventure, comedies, thrillers and science fiction, with films, music, books, theatre and talks curated by MIM - Made in Manifattura and the Stensen Foundation.

4. Cinema nel Chiostro - Museo di Sant'Orsola

From June 30th to September 7th every evening at 9:30 pm at the Museo Sant’Orsola, the summer cinema arena returns, curated by Spazio Alfieri. The best titles of the season are scheduled, every Friday screenings in the original language with subtitles.

5. Cinema in Villa Bardini - Villa Bardini

From July 8th to August 24th. Cinema in the magnificent Terrazza Belvedere of the Bardini Garden with a selection of great successes of the cinematographic season, timeless classics. The program, curated by the Niels Stensen Cultural Foundation, offers a rich program that ranges from the great successes of the past season to the best summer releases, without forgetting films in the original language and meetings with directors.
