Cinema this summer? Here are the best outdoor movie screens in Florence

There are plenty of options for film lovers in Florence, even in the summertime.

Going to one of the many open-air cinemas in Florence is a highlight of the summer. The city centre and the suburbs are full of options for an enjoyable evening spent under the stars in front of the big screen.

Apriti Cinema, the Uffizi cinema

Piazzale degli Uffizi is certainly one of the most incredible locations where you can enjoy a movie outdoors. With free admission, this is an unmissable opportunity to sit watching a film framed by colonnades. Here is the complete schedule.

Arena di Marte

Even the Nelson Mandela Forum has its own cinema under the stars. With two screens, each with a different set of programming, you will find both the best films shown during the winter season and art-house films not released by the bigger retailers. Not to be missed!

Chiardiluna is the summer venue of the Oltrarno and was one of the very first outdoor venues to open. The best films of the season are available as well as some interesting previews. The big screen is located near San Frediano and piazza Pier Vettori.

Cinema di Castello

A calendar of sought-after films awaits you at the historic Castello cinema's summer venue. The big screen at the Casa del popolo in via Reginaldo Giuliani has the advantage of an indoor movie theatre in the case of bad weather.

Esterno Notte, Poggetto’s summer venue

Flog’s outdoor cinema, in the Rifredi area, offers a lengthy programme with some of the best films of the season and also some previews. A swimming pool is right beside the site that is open to the public during the day.
