In the morning you can attend the Ceri Ceremony. In Piazza Duomo you can see the arrival of the Procession of the Florentine Republic that reaches the Baptistery to offer a symbolic gift to the Patron Saint: candles that are received by the Archbishop of Florence who later celebrates mass in the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore.

In the afternoon the appointment that you cannot miss is the final of the Calcio Storico Fiorentino in Piazza Santa Croce, a truly characteristic event of the city in which the four teams of the historic districts compete against each other: the whites of Santo Spirito, the reds of Santa Maria Novella. , the Verdi of San Giovanni and the Azzurri of Santa Croce.

In the evening you can enjoy the usual fireworks display, the so-called "Fochi di San Giovanni", from around 22:00 to 23:00. The fireworks are detonated from Piazzale Michelangelo and this makes them visible from many points of the city and for the occasion you could join the many Florentines and tourists who spend the evening out, just to admire them.
