Established by the Italian Government in 2021, National Space Day aims to raise awareness and inform Italian citizens about the contributions that science and technology applied to Space bring to the improvement of the human condition.

For this year's edition, the Galileo Museum is offering a guided tour in Italian on 16 December at 3.30pm focused on the astronomical observations of Galileo Galilei. By means of the telescope, made with his own hands, Galileo was able to look towards Space, to get closer to the Moon and to understand that it is not a perfectly spherical body with a smooth and uniform surface, as was commonly believed, but unequal, rough, with cavities and protrusions, just like the Earth.
