THE TERRITORY

This route offers the possibility to cross and get to know one of the Oltrarno hills closer to the historic center of the city. Through the typical narrow streets closed by walls that rise to the top on the ridge, not only beautiful but also unusual views of Florence open up. Unusual because the type of orientation and exposure of the hill allow another point of view on buildings, monuments, architectures, systems of spatial relationships in the city and between the city and its territory. It was not by chance that it was from these heights (precisely from Monte Oliveto) that the fifteenth-century "View of the Chain" was built, the first complete view of Lorenzo the Magnificent's Florence, designed by Francesco Rosselli in 1472...

VISITABLE PLACES:
Villa Strozzi Park - open every day

  • SUITABLE: To walkers with a good level of training, to runners with a good level of training who can run the entire course, the "beginners" are advised to walk the first uphill section (1 km) while walking

  • BASIC ROUTE: Via di San Carlo - Piazzetta di Bellosguardo - Via Piana - Via Santa Maria a Marignolle - Via dei Morelli - Via del Ferrone - Via di Soffiano 
  • ROUTE AND ROAD VENUE: The route is almost entirely devoid of sidewalk (except the stretch of Via di Soffiano) and has challenging slopes. The road, in asphalt, is mainly narrow and closed between the boundary walls of the properties. Be careful and always stay on the opposite side of the direction of travel of the vehicles. 
  • TRAINING TYPE: Due to its characteristics, this type of track allows you to train the body to manage the feeling of fatigue. 


  • CONNECTED ROUTE: Via di San Carlo (Piazzetta di Bellosguardo) - Via di Bellosguardo - Via di San Vito - Via di Soffiano - Il Boschetto (internal itinerary) - Via di Monte Oliveto - Via di San Vito - Via di Bellosguardo - Piazzetta di Bellosguardo
  • ROUTE AND ROAD VENUE: The first part of the route is devoid of sidewalk and has a descent of about 1 km. Via di S. Vito is narrow and steep. The road, in asphalt (except inside the park of Villa Strozzi), is mainly closed between the boundary walls. Be careful and always keep to the side opposite the direction of travel of the vehicles.
  • TRAINING TYPE: Due to its characteristics, this type of track allows you to perfect the downhill and uphill walking / running technique.

  • FOOTWEAR: walking or running
