What you will find

The visitors will enjoy a special atmosphere ,re living the past, when Fiesole was one of the most important cities of Tuscany;
becoming a meeting place for many artists inspired by the surrounding landscape who arrived in Fiesole and created through their ideas great masterpieces.
The Medici lived here, giving rise to the Renaissance. 
It’s a relaxing and engaging walk, that starts with a visit to the archaeological area with Etruscan and Roman ruins (theatre, thermal baths and temple), then walking through  the streets of Fiesole and visiting the park of Montececeri,  where you will have a wonderful view of Florence.

Description

A walking tour in Fiesole, retracing the history and processing of the pietra serena (sandstone), precious material used over the centuries: from the Etruscans, the Romans and the Lombards, becoming then the symbol of Renaissance architecture.
We will learn about the origins of this  beautiful city, connected to the extraction and the processing of the  grey stone in the open-air quarries of Montececeri, where  many artists, sculptors  - and not only - were formed , including Michelangelo; giving work to the many families of stonemasons, using this stone  to decorate the most important bildings of Florence.
