XIII Edition Florence Biennale

What you will find

The Florence Biennale is the main exhibition of contemporary art in Florence, where it represents a showcase of excellence for contemporary artistic production at the international level.
Every two years it animates the Medici city with a program of side events such as conferences, exhibitions, performances and educational initiatives that offer artists and visitors different opportunities to meet and discuss various aspects of art and culture.

The XIII edition will open to the public from 23rd to 31st October 2021, with a rich program of side events such as conferences, performances, workshops and educational initiatives. The theme "Eternal Feminine - Eternal Change. Concepts of Femininity in Contemporary Art and Design" focuses on the polychrome and multiform universe of femininity, which will be analyzed and investigated in its multiple facets.

This thirteenth edition will be attended by the visual artist Flora Borsi and the artist Andrea Roggi, along with over 450 exhibitors including artists and designers. Among the special projects there will be an exhibition of the ADI Design Museum recently opened in Milan.  In the days of the event will be awarded the “Lorenzo il Magnifico” Lifetime Achievement Award to the artist Michelangelo Pistoletto for the continuity of research, conducted for over sixty years in the artistic and interdisciplinary field, and to the famous photographer Oliviero Toscani who distinguished himself for the creation and manipulation of images.

The “Leonardo da Vinci” Lifetime Achievement Award for design will be awarded to the British designer and activist Vivienne Westwood for a revolutionary creative production that has marked the history of fashion design over the past fifty years.
