EVENT DATE: from 8 to 29 September 2024
EVENT DESCRIPTION
FilArmonia, the music and spirituality festival returns with concerts for the plants and in the darkness of the crypt between 8 and 29 September at the Certosa di Firenze. Identity and roots of humanity at the center of the third edition of the event organized by the Filharmonie, a young orchestra and the only example of an under 35 music hub in Tuscany.
Among the new features, a focus on ancient music dedicated to Hildegard of Bingen, mystic and philosopher of the Middle Ages, and the world premiere of Stella Maris by the Lux Vivens group: 12 female voices echoing with crystal bells. Compositions designed to make plants also play, concerts in the dark to immerse yourself in the dimension of blind people, in-depth meetings in a place that is metaphysical in itself and a focus dedicated to Hildegard of Bingen, mystic, saint and philosopher of the European Middle Ages . Ten dates between 8 and 29 September to investigate the theme of identity and the roots of humanity, digging into fossil finds, philosophical and religious concepts.
Several guests have been called to enrich a third edition even richer than the previous ones: in the opening concert, Sunday 8 September, the La Filharmonie string quartet will perform a repertoire dedicated to nature, from the Aurora quartet by J. Haydn to the evocative Songs of Summer by P. Vasks to arrive, with the participation of the young and talented soprano Valeria Matrosova, at The Reasons for a Meadow by R. Perugini – a composer known for his ability to mix pop, ancient music and new languages ??who boasts performances of his own works by prestigious institutions such as the Venice Art Biennale and the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino -, which will be present in the room.
Among the new features this year are Viriditas, an offshoot of the main festival, dedicated to the significant figure of Hildegard of Bingen, intended to host events linked to ancient music and its presence in the contemporary world. Among these: the NicoNote concert, artistic alias of Nicoletta Magalotti, Italian-Austrian based in Bologna and Rimini, performer, author, transversal artist known for her liquid vocality across genres and formats. On September 13th NicoNote, in collaboration with the Florentine label New Interplanetary Melodies, will present his latest album Regola, released on the same days, with a performance dedicated to the mystic, saint and philosopher of the European Middle Ages, an engaging sound rite, in which resonates the inner world, through breathing and immersive listening between electronics, voice and space of the spirit.
The second Hildegardian concert of the festival, scheduled for 20 September, will be dedicated to a project in its absolute first performance, entitled Stella Maris, by the Vocal - Instrumental Group LUX VIVENS: the ancient medieval sounds will be re-proposed in the form of meditation in music in a new and touching creation, through the union and the unprecedented fusion of the solo voice and the 12 female voices in echo with the rock crystal bells, whose harmonics are widely used in music therapy to stimulate a deep state of relaxation and an inner disposition to listening pure and uncontaminated by other thoughts.
Speaking of not only spiritual roots, on 27 September Fabrizio Festa, composer, conductor, music and sound designer, together with a group of musicians from the Filharmonie, his MaterElettrica ensemble will also play some plants for a musical experience, but also scientific study of a completely different point of view: that, to use an expression coined in 1998 by Susanne Simard, of the Wood-Wide-Web, the intricate and interconnected system of relationships that unites the plant world of our planet.
Closing the event on September 29th is Notturno, a concert immersed in the darkness of the crypt performed by the Sentieri Selvaggi ensemble: a highly immersive experience with great emotional impact. In fact, the process of promoting accessibility in the cultural field, started last year with the involvement of deaf people, continues, expanding the activities this year to the blind.
