In the historic heart of Florence, inside the Marble Museum of Palazzo Medici Riccardi, "Timeless Portraits" comes to life, a photographic exhibition by international artist Rossano B. Maniscalchi, capable of intertwining art, history, and cultural reflection in a highly visual and emotionally evocative journey. Sponsored by the Metropolitan City of Florence, organized by the NOVA Association - Nuova Officina delle Visioni Artistiche and the Hearing Eyes Association, with the support of the MUS.E Foundation, the exhibition will be held inside the Marble Museum, an integral part of the Palazzo Medici Riccardi museum itinerary, from July 30 to October 28, 2025.
These intense portraits, previously shown abroad at prestigious cultural centers, are being exhibited for the first time in the artist's hometown. They offer a powerful glimpse into contemporary identity through the faces of leaders, artists, and personalities who have shaped our time. Celebrities such as Barack Obama, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Dario Fo, Rita Levi Montalcini, the Dalai Lama, Jody Williams, Derek Walcott, Michelangelo Antonioni, Philippe Daverio, and many others are reflected in the faces of emperors, philosophers, and mythological figures: each pairing creates a bridge between eras, constructing a narrative through analogy that is both intimate and collective.
In a deeply evocative visual narrative, the photographs taken by Maniscalchi throughout his international career are juxtaposed with ancient marble busts, in a thoughtful and meaningful juxtaposition. The goal is not only aesthetic, but profoundly cultural: to question what it means, today, to "be remembered," how the languages of power and image are changing, and how the portrait, yesterday carved in marble, today imprinted in photography, continues to speak a universal language.
The concept of "Timeless Portraits" comes to life precisely in this silent yet impactful dialogue, where marble and photography become fodder for reflection on vanity, glory, and memory. The exhibition follows the great Florentine tradition of dialogue between classical and contemporary, reviving the humanist spirit that has made Florence a cradle of artistic thought and innovation. In this context, Rossano B. Maniscalchi's work—intense, essential, and capable of capturing the soul of his subjects—finds new depth and powerful cultural resonance.
"Timeless Portraits" is more than an exhibition: it is a reflection on the face as a cultural construct, a symbol of identity, power, and memory; it is a journey through the representation of the human being throughout the centuries; it is an invitation to observe with new eyes what we think we know.
