Did you know that the Viale dei Colli, designed by Giuseppe Poggi, is one of the strolls in the Florentine hills with the most beautiful views over the city?
The project was proposed for the expansion of Florence in 1865, when Florence became capital of the Kingdom of Italy. On its route, which stretches from Porta Romana to Ponte San Niccolò, you can indulge in a walk with a view worth photographing.
A high-impact sight to see is the staircase leading up to the church of San Miniato al Monte and its monumental cemetery, as well as the incredible view from Piazzale Michelangelo, but the entire walk is extremely fascinating.
It’s about 6 kilometers total, but it won’t wear you out because you’ll be surrounded by beauty with the numerous trees and plants and evergreen shrubs (and beautiful villas) at every turn.
