August in Florence: Be.Cool, use water responsibly

The best of August in Florence with #EnjoyRespectFirenze!

Are you required to take your holidays in August and so find yourself visiting cities in the infernal heat? Don't worry, there are many good things about visiting Florence in August! Given that the majority of Florentines hit the coast, the city is significantly more accessible. It’s the perfect month for museum lovers, as you can hide away for hours on end in the cool of lesser-known places, discovering new works of art. And, above all, it’s the month of shooting stars, when dreams can come true!

One of our #EnjoyRespectFirenze dreams is particularly on our minds in the month of August: that visitors drink water responsibly, filling water bottles at our many public fountains scattered around the city, avoiding unnecessary waste and throwing trash into the separate waste bins and eco-compactors!

Could we make it happen?

Keeping an eye on you is Neptune himself, god of the sea, or as you might know him, our magnificent Biancone, who rules from the Ammannati fountain in front of Palazzo Vecchio.

UNMISSABLE EVENTS THIS AUGUST IN FLORENCE!

Feast of San Lorenzo – August 10

The nights around August 10 and 14 are known all over for the famous Perseids meteor shower, known as “the shooting stars”. However, in Florence, the day is even more special because San Lorenzo is celebrated as the joint patron saint of the city. In the neighborhood named after him, you can enjoy an evening filled with ragù, watermelon, stars and music.

"1925–2025: A Hundred Years of the History of Science in Florence” – all through August

The exhibition at the Galileo Museum showcases rare and valuable editions of volumes, primarily from the Medici-Lorraine Collection.
