Things to do in Florence: Musical events this summer, 2024

Live music around Florence

Maggio Musicale, Firenze Rocks, Musart, Estate Fiesolana: all the music events this summer.

May

The live music scene in Florence always kicks off in May, with Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the oldest and most prestigious operatic and classical music festival in Italy. This year will be the 86th edition of the festival, with a rich program of great operas, including Turandot (from April 21 to May 3, 2024) and Tosca (from May 24 to June 8), two of the great masterpieces by our Giacomo Puccini.

June

The time has come for musical hurricane Firenze Rocks, the super rock festival that sets Florence shaking with amazing concerts held at the Visarno Area, in the Cascine park. The festival returns in 2024 from June 13 to 15: Avenged Sevenfold and Tool are confirmed.

In June, the Estate Fiesolana gets underway at Fiesole’s Teatro Romano, the oldest outdoor multidisciplinary festival in Italy. Music and theatre, lots of artists and shows in a captivating location.

July

The ninth MusArt Festival (from 17 to 27 July) changes its location and moves to the splendid Medici Park of Pratolino! Roberto Vecchioni, Loreena Mc Kennitt, Il Volo, Pooh are the first names of the MusArt Festival 2024!

August

Not far from Florence, towards the end of August, the Beat Festival returns to Empoli (the first part of the festival will take place from Thursday, August 29 to Sunday, September 1, the second from Thursday, September 5 to Saturday, September 7), the rock festival held in Prato della Serravalle with tons of concerts, street food, sport, skateboarding, craft markets and plenty of other entertainment for young and old alike.

September

The season draws to a close with the Firenze Jazz Fringe Festival (FJFF). Five days of jazz music with more than 200 jazz musicians and artists will bring 50 performances to some of Florence’s liveliest Oltrarno neighborhoods: San Niccolò, piazza Santo Spirito, Basilica di San Felice and the riverside roads.
